What We Believe

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Jersey Holiness Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

Bible

WE BELIEVE the Holy Bible to be God's verbally inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word. Therefore, it is the FINAL authority for our faith and life. (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21)

God

WE BELIEVE there is one God eternally existing in THREE persons; namely the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; commonly known as the TRINITY. (Isaiah 48:16; Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:19; John 14:10,26; II Corinthians 13:14)

Jesus

WE BELIEVE in the Deity of Jesus Christ; as the Son of God, He is both Fully God and Fully Man (John 1:1-12, 14; Galatians 4:4-5; Philippians 2: 5-8; I Timothy 2:5).   His conception of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 1:20). His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:35).  His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15; Hebrews 7:26).   His vicarious and atoning death (I Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9).  His physical resurrection from the dead (John 11:25: I Corinthians 15:4). His ascension to the right hand of the Father as Intercessor (Hebrews 9:24). His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11)

salvation

WE BELIEVE that ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that God has commanded repentance as necessary for forgiveness of sins. As a result, justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ and that only by God's grace and through faith alone are we saved (Romans 3:23; Mark 1:15; Romans 5:1,8,9; I Peter 1:18-21; John 3:16-19; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5)

Sanctification

We BELIEVE that sanctification is subsequent to salvation, through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ, through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost (Romans 5:2; I Corinthians 1:30; I Thessalonians 4:3; Hebrews 13:12)

Holiness

WE BELIEVE that Holiness is God's standard for His church (Luke 1:75; I Thessalonians 4:7; Hebrews 12:14)

Holy Ghost Baptism

WE BELIEVE that the Baptism of the Holy Ghost is subsequent to a regenerated and sanctified heart; in speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance; that speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 3:11; Luke 24:49,53; John 15:26, Acts1:4-8; Acts 2: 1-4; Acts 10:44-46; Acts 19:1-7)

Water Baptism

WE BELIEVE in water baptism by Immersion and that all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. (Matthew 28:19; Mark 1:9,10; John 3:22,23; Acts 8:36,38)

communion

WE BELIEVE in the Lord's Supper and the washing of the saints' feet (Luke 22:17-20; I Corinthians 11:23-26; John 13:4-17: I Timothy 5:9-10)

Healing

WE BELIEVE that Divine Healing is provided for all God's people by the Atonement of Christ (Psalm 103:3; Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:17; James 5:11-16; I Peter 2:24)

The Church

WE BELIEVE that the church, as the body of Christ, operates solely in the Power of Pentecost to fulfill the Great Commission, with signs following, with the fruit of the Spirit, and with the gifts of the Spirit operational within the body (Acts 1:8; Mark 16:17-20; Galatians 5:22-23; I Corinthians 12: 1-10,28,31)

The Second Coming

WE BELIEVE in the Imminent Second Coming of Christ, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air (I Corinthians 15:52; I Thessalonians 4:15-17; II Thessalonians2:1)

Resurrection

WE BELIEVE in the bodily resurrection of all men, both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto eternal life; and they that are unsaved to eternal punishment (Matthew 25:46; John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:5-6, 12-13)
